Groupe Sécuri-check (and its affiliates) (hereinafter “we”) is a company operating in the field of investigations, pre-employment screenings, pre-rental screenings, and fingerprinting. The purpose of this policy is to explain how we collect, use, disclose, and store your personal information. Securi-check holds an investigative agency license issued by the Quebec Private Security Bureau and is a personal information agent as described in Protection of Personal Information in the Private Sector Act (Chapter P-39.1)
In the course of our business, we put in place all necessary measures to handle personal information, in accordance especially, with, the Private Security Services Act (chapter S-3.5) and Protection of Personal Information in the Private Sector Act.

1. Source of personal information collected
We may collect your personal information from the following sources:
- Directly from you;
- Depending on the circumstances, we might get it from a third party, like financial institutions, credit bureaus, or clients who hire us to carry out investigations and provide us information about individuals (for example employers);
- As allowed by applicable laws.
2. The information we collect and how we use it
As part of the mandates entrusted to us, for example by employers or landlords, we are required to collect certain personal information about one or more individuals. This information may be collected directly from the person concerned or through a third party.
Here are the categories of personal information we may collect
- Personal information: your contact details, date of birth, gender
- Financial information: such as your payment information, invoice payment history, bank account number, and credit history, as required, where applicable.
- Employment information: such as information about your previous employers or prior work experience.
- Academic information: such as information relating to your academic background, academic results, and academic certificates and diplomas obtained.
- Information about your previous landlords / places of residence / behavior (social conduct): such as your previous addresses and the names of your former landlords, as well as information about your previous conduct in relation to the property entrusted to you by your former landlords (for example, with a reference letter from your previous landlords).
- Information on a particular individual shared by the person requesting an investigation: such as travel movements, type of vehicle used, handwriting analysis. If you share personal information about another person, you must obtain the required consent to do so.
- Fingerprints: We may collect your fingerprints to conduct various criminal background checks. To be able to do this, we are accredited by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) to transmit your electronically collected fingerprints for the purpose of conducting various criminal background checks, including background checks for employment with vulnerable populations (click here for more information on this subject).
- Information collected online: when you visit our website, we may collect data known as “browsing data,” i.e., data whose transmission to the site is implicit in the operation of the information systems responsible for managing the site and used in the communication protocols reserved for the Internet. Browsing data includes, for example, the IP addresses or domain names of the computers used by users who connect to the site, and other parameters such as the type of the user’s operating system. Browsing data also indicates the number of visits and the time spent on the site. It is collected and processed anonymously and exclusively for statistical purposes, in relation to the use of the site and to check that the site is functioning correctly. By its nature, browsing data may potentially lead to your identification if it is associated with data held by third parties; however, we do not collect browsing data in order to associate it with identified users. Browsing data is used to assess potential liability in the event of a crime against and via the site.
- Cookies: these are small files stored on your computer’s hard drive. Additionally, the site uses cookies for specific and defined purposes; for example, regarding your subscription, these cookies collect personal information used to identify you when you return to the site, to facilitate your access to the site and the login process (for example, they remember your username and password). They also exist for security and management reasons. The cookies installed on the site cannot be used to run programs on your computer or download viruses, and they do not permit any form of control over your computer. Most browsers automatically allow cookies, but normally, you can change your web browser options to disable this feature. The “Help” section of the toolbar found on most browsers explains how to avoid and block cookies, web bugs, and other tracking technologies, how to get your browser to alert you when these technologies are being used, or how to disable them. Disabling cookies may limit your ability to use the site and may prevent you from enjoying the full functionality and services of the Site.
- Temporary cookies are stored in a temporary memory and deleted when you close your browser; they do not contain any information stored on your computer.
We use your information for the following purposes:
- Commercial purposes: we may use your information to contact you in response to a request for information or to offer you, our services.
- Conducting the assignments entrusted to us;
- Updating the information in our possession in compliance with our legal obligations;
- Analyzing the use of our website;
3. Disclosure of personal information
In the course of our operations, we may share your personal information with the following
categories of third parties:
- With our affiliates who need the information to carry out their duties (on a need-to-know basis);
- With our service providers and contractors who provide us with website services, applications and software development, hosting, maintenance, other technology services as well as other third-party service providers and/or contractors. We only provide these service providers the information that is strictly necessary for them to perform their duties, and the contracts we have with these service providers require them to keep this information confidential.
- With clients who have mandated us to conduct an investigation or any other request that requires us to provide information.
- With government authorities and law enforcement agencies as required by applicable laws.
4. Storage of your personal information
Your information is stored in Canada.
Your information may also be stored in countries where we do business with service providers (such as the United States). When information is located outside your country of residence, it is subject to the laws of the country where it is located and may be disclosed to governments, courts, or law enforcement or regulatory agencies in that country, in accordance with their laws. That being said, our practices regarding your personal information always remain governed by this policy, and we take appropriate contractual measures to ensure that the information is always governed in accordance with this policy and applicable Canadian laws. In accordance with regulations applicable to personal information agents, we retain personal information for a minimum period of seven (7) years. In cases where personal information was collected more than seven years ago but its use is necessary for ongoing assignments, more than seven years after its collection, we will retain it for as long as necessary for the purposes set out in this policy.

5. Security of your personal information
Although transmitting information over the Internet may involve risks, we have taken all reasonable measures to ensure the protection of the information we collect and store. In this respect, we have put in place the following security measures:
- Our site uses the most advanced technologies and procedures to help protect your personal information from unauthorized access, use, or disclosure. For example, the personal information you provide is stored on secure servers located in controlled locations. In addition, details regarding transactions entered on/in the site will be encrypted to ensure their security.
- We also conduct regular audits to ensure that our technological infrastructure is secure. At the time of updating this policy, the latest analysis conducted in October 2024, concluded that our information and data assets are adequately protected.
- In addition to technological measures, we have put in place physical and material resources to protect the information we have in our possession. For example, our premises have an appropriate surveillance system. In addition, access to information is granted only employees who need it to perform their duties. We also have signed confidentiality agreements and ensure that everyone we work with is aware of their confidentiality obligations. Certain precautions must also be taken by those who provide us with information. For example, if we have provided you with a password to access certain parts of our site, you are responsible for keeping this password confidential and secure.
6. Your rights regarding your personal information
In certain circumstances and in accordance with applicable privacy laws, you have the following
rights:
- Right to request access to your personal information: subject to applicable law and, where applicable, a payment of a fee as provided for by law, you may receive a copy of the personal information about you that we have in our possession.
- Correction: We are required to take appropriate measures to ensure that the personal information we have is accurate, complete, and up to date. For this reason, in order to keep your information accurate and up to date, we kindly request that you notify us of any changes to your details, such as a change of address or phone number.
- Transfer: where applicable, you have the right to request the transfer of certain personal information to another party;
- Erasure: In certain limited circumstances provided for in applicable laws, you may request the erasure of your personal information.
To exercise any of these rights, in accordance with applicable law, you must submit your request in writing, specifying the right you wish to exercise, to the Privacy Officer at one of the addresses listed in the “How to contact us” section.
